Rule Britannia and Merry Christmas
At last here it is the new boiler in steam. What a Christmas present. Happy time for all at LNWR to see this monster job at last coming to a close. Well done to all the lads. Why go to Germany when we can do it right here
in Britian.

No wonder everyone in the group photo has a massive smile on their face (apart from the chap 3rd. from right!), a fantastic achivement by one and all. A huge well done to all your team, you must be very proud of them Mr. W. Not long now then when `Britannia` rules the rails again.

First time that I’ve seen a loco boiler in steam off the frames. Glad it all went well. this is a big step in getting the ‘Britt’ back to life.
Don’t think that it would have got far if someone had opened the reg. though.
Dave the lad 3rd from right may be a boiler-smith gone deaf from all the hammering of the end of the stays over!!!!!!!!!!! (or he still had his ear defenders in) dint hear the shout cheese?
Pete, I hope that the lads did some jacket spud in the ashes.

Hi Pete, Replied to the wrong place!. Was just going to say what a fantastic achievement. Wonderful to such workmanship. No wonder the blokes look so pleased. I’ve just been watching the Swindon video of building 4041.
Those men were craftsmen of the highest order. Terrible when you see them lagging the boilers with blue asbestos and no protective gear.
Anyway, more power to the boys in the boiler shop. Brilliant!

Just realised what I thought was the safety valves blowing off is in fact the
blower. Awesome!. Frightening the power of steam. I know welding techniques have vastly improved but I still like the old fashioned rivets!.
