Dia L Auto Coach

July 15th, 2010 by pete

This was built and weathered by Martyn Welsh and own by John Wilson of Perth Western Australia. Very nice John thanks for letting us see it. This is not the same as the Auto coach that Lionheart is doing which  is a 70ft one and would run with the steam railmotors. They ran well into the 50s.  We had two at Leamington Spa on the Stratfords.  Ive added two of my Dia L built by us and painted by Alan Brackenborough for Fred to see.

6634

June 15th, 2010 by pete

Mark Vrettos’ blog the other day showed the main part of 6634 which is being put together by the guys at the SVR. Here’s the part we’re doing at LNWR which will give you a good idea of why steam locos cost what they do. Also the Garrett moves on….. the wheels are back and the header is removed from the boiler.

May 12th, 2010 by pete

Jan 2010Just four months ago we had 20 apprentices who had never worked and seemed to be in the same position as so many of our young.  But now we have a great team who have now built the first part of the Garratt and here are the photos. Thanks to all of them and the trainers.  We may see the loco back this year.

Wagon Help

May 11th, 2010 by pete

Guys……help us out !

I have found out that wagons are more confusing than I would have thought as there is far less info available  than you would think. The Paul Bartlett site is fantastic for photos, and god bless him for doing it, but we do need all the help we can get. We want to get it right , we dont want to compromise,  we do not do that IF WE GET IT WRONG WE WILL PUT IT RIGHT . Of course we do get things wrong with a range as big as ours - we’re bound to,  but if you see somthing let me or Laurie in Scotland know. We are re- doing the 12t shock van as we made it 7mm too long.

We want to get it right so that we can all get better models. SO HELP US TO HELP YOU.
